Jean Lumb was the first Chinese Canadian woman and the first restauranteur to receive the Order of Canada for her community work. She was recognized for her pivotal role in changing Canada’s immigration laws that separated Chinese families.
The order of Canada is a Canadian national order. It is the highest honour for civilians. Jean Lumb was an icon in Chinese Canadian history. She was active and had achieved numerous awards and honours in Canada.
